A Cup of Chai Begins With A Story.

From Kashmir in the North to Gujarat from the West, to the 7 Sister States (Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Manipur) in the East, to the Southern Tropics of Kerala and Tamil Nadu, or even across waters far and wide, the uniqueness of every tradition and story is what unites our communities together, centered around Dharma. Dharma is what allows us to sustain nature and creation which is expressed through Prakriti (the rhythmic and pulsating energy of the cosmos). It is this energy that is manifested through the arts, dance, song, theater, and story. Creativity itself is a form of Prakriti which is experienced infinitely. And hence, every story told on Chai Chats is representative of Prakriti, each unique yet universal.

It Began With A Story...

Host - Akhilesh Reddy Chopra

"I recall the beginnings of my rich Dharmic journey which first started at the dinner table over cups of chai with Mum. I recall our homestyle cultural nights, exploring the Ancient Indian Arts of theater and performance found in the Natyashastra as well as the architectural marvels of Ancient Hindu Temples. Over aloo paratha and masala chai, my Mum would discuss with me the lessons of Sanatana Dharma and Yog. Day by day my curiosity kindled and I began having conversations with friends about my learnings. It was over a cup of chai that my deep appreciation and learning for the Dharmic cultures began. For many, chai is had with samosas and nankhatai. But for me, Chai is best had with a story! I'd like to welcome you all to Chai Chats. A platform where I interview young and old Dharmic folk on their cultural journey, identity, traditions and stories, all of course with a warm cup of chai."

Storytelling is a timeless link...

Storytelling is the way our traditions, values and experiences are passed on. They are a timeless link to ancient traditions as well as the stories of our ancestors.  We hope to uplift the spirit of Indian folk in our communities, evoke pride, love, ownership and curiosity to rekindle our cultural heritage.

We interview Indic and Dharmic folk in our local and global communities about their relationship with their culture, their traditions and festivals, childhood memories and stories, identity,  life lessons, inspirations, advice and much more!
